The New York Yankees are expected to "take a run" at Freddie Freeman in free agency once Major League Baseball's lockout ends, according to a report.

The Yankees have been linked to Freeman since shortly after the World Series, which Freeman's Atlanta Braves won.

The Texas Rangers have signed Joe McCarthy to a Minor League contract.

The outfielder will receive an invitation to Major League spring training.

McCarthy, the older brother of Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jake McCarthy, appeared in four big league games with the San Francisco Giants in 2020.
